A screenplay is a plan. The set is where that plan meets reality.
Locations change. Performances reveal things you didn't see on the page. A shot you thought you needed suddenly doesn't matter, while a quiet moment between two actors becomes the scene.
That's part of filmmaking.
At Crucial Werks, we don't believe the goal is to perfectly recreate what was written. The goal is to protect what made the story worth writing in the first place.
Sometimes that means changing the shot. Moving the camera. Losing a line. Letting an actor sit in a moment longer than expected.
The page gives us direction.
The set gives the story life.
